Naimisharanaya lies in the northern side of Uttar Pradesh in the Sitapur district at a distance of 95km approx. from Lucknow. It is situated on the banks of Gomti river and is famous for the Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. According to sanits, Naimisharadya or Naimisharanya is one of the 108 Vinshu Temples, known as Divya Desams. It is believed that the idol here is Swayambhu, i.e., Self-Manifested. As the name suggests, The Chakra kund is said to have been built on the Chakra of Lord Vishnu and is the place where devotees take a dip to cleanse themselves of any sins. The Vishnu temple in Naimisharanya is said to have been visited by Shankaracharya and has been mentioned in several Hindu scriptures.
