Shravasti is a small town located in Uttar Pradesh on the bank of River Rapti where Buddha stayed and taught his disciples profound teachings and principles of Buddhism for about 25years. Shravasti was the capital of Kosala Kingdom under the reign of King Shravasta. It is believed that Lord Buddha had performed the miracle of creating multiple images of himself, also known as Tirthika heretics.

The Angulimala Stupa is a simple structure symbolizing repentance and transformation. It was built by Angulimala – a man who used to wear garland made out of human fingers, and later transformed into a monk by Buddha. Maheth is an archaelogical site that contains ruins of the walls and gates of palaces, temples and inscription.
