Chitrakoot is a small and quaint town located on the borders of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. According to the Hindu epic- Ramayana, Chitrakoot is believed to be the place where Lord Rama spent 11 years of his exile along with Mata Sita and His Brother Lakshaman.It is also said that it is the place where Bharat came to meet his brother Rama and asked him to return to Ayodhya to take over the kingdom after their father King Dasharath’s death.
Chitrakoot is a divine city as it is believed that the 3 principal gods of Hinduism namely, Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh took incarnation here. Hence one can find several temples in the city that our worth visiting.
